About the Author

Background:

I am Kris Zoleta, the person behind this great blog. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University Polytechnic, Pomona with an emphasis in Social Science. In Summer 2012, I recently obtained my Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and International Business from California State University Polytechnic, Pomona.

I have been a fan of Anime and Manga for a very long time, since the early 90's. I have been attending Anime Expo since 2004. Anime Expo is a convention run by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, a non-profit 501(c)(6) corporation. Starting from Anime Expo 2005, I started staffing for the convention. I started staffing in Manga Library in Anime Expo 2005. In Anime Expo 2006 I staffed in the Staff Services Department. For the next four years I was the department manager for the Manga Cafe (AX 2007-2009) and the Manga Lounge (AX 2010). During my tenure as manager I won many awards including the Manager MVP award. I was on the SPJA Board of Directors for one term (from October 2010 - November 2012) where I served as Treasurer of the Board of Directors, Interim Chief Financial Offier, Chairman of the R&D Committee, and the Chairman of the Finance Committee. Under my tenure I helped reduce the $1.2 million dollar debt and pushed the organization to financial stability. My convention future as of right now is still a big question mark.

Outside of Anime I have a wide a variety of hobbies: hiking, photography, writing, and reading. I do lots of hiking in many of the national parks I attended, having been in almost every National Park west of the Mississippi. I am photographer with a passion in photography, I am quite proud of my work and I will continue to improve my skills. Ever since I got into the hobby of photography I have become one of the most recognized cosplay photographers on the West Coast. On my free time I write lots of stories, many of which will never get published since many of them are just to please my crazy imagination. I read lots of books to gain more knowledge. I believe that knowledge is a never ending process and until my dying breath I will be learning around the world around me.

I am also a fan of Cosplay, Cirque du Soleil, and Japanese RPGs.
